The field is the colony's brain: 5,928 real MaleCNS neurons (of 165,733), each placed in 3D by the neurons it actually synapses with and coloured by its real neurotransmitter. Every fly sits on one of these neurons. Contract events land as afferent stimuli and fade back to rest.
